Chandigarh, 8 January 2025: The Chandigarh Education Department has revised school timings and extended holidays for younger students due to the ongoing cold wave and harsh weather conditions in the region.

Starting today, government and recognized school teachers and staff will report from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm, while students will attend from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. The decision follows the impact of cold winds and dense fog sweeping through North India, causing concerns among parents and authorities.

Holidays for students from pre-nursery to Class VIII in government, private, and recognized schools have been extended until January 11. Since January 12 falls on a Sunday, classes for these students will resume on January 13.

“In light of the current weather conditions, holidays for students up to Class VIII have been extended, and school timings for older students have been adjusted,” said Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, Director of the School Education Department.
