YAMUNANAGAR, September 2: A joint search and rescue operation is currently underway along the Yamuna river at the Hathnikund Barrage after two soldiers belonging to the 1 Para Special Forces went missing during a scheduled evening training exercise. Official reports indicate that the incident occurred late Tuesday night when an army craft encountered an unexpected technical glitch while navigating the river channel.

A spokesperson from the defense public relations office affirmed that five personnel were on board when strong river currents drifted the vessel downstream toward the barrage structure. Despite immediate recovery attempts by the crew, the craft became caught in powerful eddies near the sluice gates and capsized. Three team members successfully swam to safety, while two soldiers were swept downstream by the fast-moving water.

Administrative agencies have coordinated to reduce water discharge flow through the barrage gates to facilitate rescue operations. Multi-agency ground and aerial teams maintain continuous search sweeps along the downstream riverbed. Military representatives declared that specialized units will sustain rescue measures until the missing personnel are located.
