Jalandhar: Former Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its regional office in Jalandhar as part of an ongoing money-laundering investigation into alleged irregularities associated with the Suntec City project in Mohali. Arriving with documentation concerning Change of Land Use (CLU) decisions, the senior official submitted relevant administrative records to assist investigating officers with the inquiry.
The central agency’s investigation focuses on administrative procedures, land permissions, and layout approvals granted for the housing project over past years. Prior to this appearance, senior IAS officer Kanwal Preet Brar was also questioned regarding regulatory decisions and approval frameworks. Official sources maintained that administrative actions were executed strictly in accordance with statutory guidelines without favoring private entities.
As part of the expanding inquiry, the investigating agency has also issued summons to Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Varun Sharma to share police records concerning past land acquisition complaints. Investigative authorities affirmed that the ongoing process aims to verify regulatory compliance, examine financial flows, and ensure complete transparency throughout the administrative review.
