Chandigarh: Addressing recent public statements made by opposition leaders regarding the unfortunate death of a resident in Sangrur district, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann affirmed that administrative and police authorities have acted swiftly to ensure complete justice. Responding to public remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Chief Minister declared that legal proceedings were initiated immediately without delay and urged political parties to respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.

The incident involved 47-year-old Gulzar Singh of Dirba, who tragically passed away earlier this week. Law enforcement authorities acted promptly on the family’s complaint by registering a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Police have already taken the named individuals into custody, and a high-level Special Investigation Team led by an Additional Director General of Police has been constituted to conduct a comprehensive and impartial probe.

Reaffirming the state’s firm stance against illegal drug networks, the Chief Minister asserted that the administration remains fully committed to eradicating illicit substances across Punjab. Emphasizing that law enforcement agencies operate with complete independence, the state leadership declared that no individual involved in drug trafficking or illegal activities will escape legal accountability regardless of their stature or connections.
