Amritsar, 26 December 2024: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly objected to the impersonation of the Sahibzadas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji during an event at a Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Payyanur, Kerala.

SGPC shared pictures and videos on social media, calling the act highly objectionable and against Sikh principles, stating it has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.

In a statement, SGPC urged the school administration to ensure such practices are avoided in the future and requested the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) to direct its Payyanur branch to remove the controversial images from public platforms.

SGPC further appealed to the Government of India to promote awareness about the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom in accordance with Sikh values.

The SGPC also criticized the official naming of the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom day as “Veer Bal Diwas.” It underlined that Sikh institutions, including the Shiromani Committee and Sri Akal Takht Sahib, have recommended renaming it as “Sahibzada Shahadat Diwas.”

SGPC offered to assist government institutions in running awareness campaigns to educate the public about Sikh principles and the significance of the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom.
