Amritsar, Oct 5: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will publicly release its preliminary investigation report on the Sri Anandpur Sahib matter at 12 noon tomorrow, October 6.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami confirmed that the four-member inquiry committee, coordinated by SGPC Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, completed its fact-finding probe within a designated 15-day window. The investigation follows serious allegations leveled by a Bahrain-based woman against former SGPC member Amarjit Singh Chawla. In response to the initial developments, the SGPC accepted Chawla’s resignation, terminated the services of the Additional Chief Granthi of Akal Takht, and suspended another staff member while setting up an impartial internal probe.
Inquiry coordinator Balwinder Singh Kahlwan urged all parties to refrain from premature conclusions, social media commentary, and unverified assumptions prior to the report’s release. SGPC leadership reiterated its commitment to transparency and facts, noting that while local police are independently investigating a registered FIR, the SGPC has also urged the state government to hand over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a comprehensive probe.
