Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026: Six Squads Finalised as Punjab’s Cricket Stars Join Emerging Talent

Chandigarh, August 11: The six squads for the 2026 Sher-e-Punjab T20 League have been finalised, setting the stage for a season that will bring some of Punjab’s biggest cricketing names together with a new generation of emerging talent.

Mohali Kings, Fazilka Falcons, Amritsar Soormas, Bathinda Royals, Jalandhar Warriors, and Ludhiana Lions will compete for the title, with several established Indian players set to headline the respective teams.

India captain Shubman Gill will lead the star presence at Fazilka Falcons, while explosive opener Abhishek Sharma will turn out for his home side, Amritsar Soormas. India pacer Arshdeep Singh has been picked by Ludhiana Lions, wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh will represent Jalandhar Warriors, all-rounder Ramandeep Singh will play for Mohali Kings and pacer Gurnoor Brar will feature for Bathinda Royals.

The auction also produced several significant buys. Sanvir Singh was the most expensive player, with Fazilka Falcons securing the all-rounder for ₹13.20 lakh. Amritsar Soormas paid ₹10.80 lakh for Naman Dhir, while Mohali Kings acquired Amolpreet Singh for ₹8.20 lakh.

Bathinda Royals made two major acquisitions in Harnoor Singh and Ashwani Kumar, paying ₹7 lakh each, while Jalandhar Warriors secured Sukhdeep Bajwa for ₹6 lakh.

Under the auction regulations, every franchise had to assemble a squad of at least 16 and no more than 20 players. Each team entered the auction with a purse of ₹45 lakh, while the six marquee players were signed for ₹10 lakh each.

Beyond the headline names and auction figures, the league is also designed to strengthen Punjab’s domestic cricket pathway by giving younger players an opportunity to compete alongside established stars.

Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) president Amarjit Singh Mehta said the competition was aimed at creating a stronger platform for players from across the state.

“We have worked tirelessly with the Punjab Chief Minister to turn this vision into reality, and we are delighted to see it taking shape. The PCA Stadium in Mohali is a special venue, and every cricketer dreams of playing here. Through this league, we want to give players from every part of Punjab the opportunity to step onto this iconic ground, gain valuable experience and showcase their talent on a bigger stage. We believe this will be an important step in strengthening the cricketing pathway in Punjab and creating more opportunities for our young players.”

The presence of players such as Gill, Abhishek, Arshdeep and Prabhsimran is expected to add both quality and visibility to the tournament, while the younger members of the six squads will get an opportunity to share dressing rooms with experienced Indian cricketers.

With all six squads now in place, the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League enters its next phase with a blend of established performers, promising youngsters and high-value auction picks, offering Punjab’s emerging cricketers a platform to make their mark.
