Punjab Police Clarify Video Originating From Rajasthan Has No Connection To State

Chandigarh, August 11: A major political row has erupted across Punjab following a social media post by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh featuring a viral video of two disoriented men.

The former cricketer shared the clip on X to voice deep anguish over the substance abuse crisis facing the state, asserting that Punjab’s youth deserve better.

Punjab Police quickly responded to set the record straight, affirming that the footage actually originated from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan rather than anywhere within state borders.

Law enforcement officials maintained that simply overlaying a Punjabi audio track onto foreign footage does not convert it into a local event, urging public figures to exercise caution.

Responsible sharing matters, Punjab Police declared while directly tagging the parliamentarian in their corrective statement.

The incident sparked immediate condemnation from ruling party leaders who accused opposition members of attempting to tarnish the region’s reputation.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur launched a sharp critique against the newly joined BJP politician, asserting that he was attempting to please his new political leadership at any cost. She declared that his actions demonstrated a willingness to ruin the image of the entire state purely for partisan gain.

AAP leaders maintained that opposition figures are increasingly relying on unverified internet material to manufacture outrage, reiterating that state agencies remain fully committed to handling law enforcement and public health challenges with total factual integrity.
