Chandigarh, August 8: The Shiromani Akali Dal requested the immediate implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill across the nation following a consultative session of the party’s core leadership in the city on Saturday.
Party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal stated that the organization derives its core principles from the historic teachings of the Sikh Gurus, who consistently advocated for equal rights and total social dignity for women. He noted that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has already set a practical precedent by maintaining institutional reservation for women within its representative house.
“The Shiromani Akali Dal demands the immediate execution of the women’s quota to ensure proportionate political representation,” Badal asserted while briefing the media regarding the key resolution.
The leadership further held extensive deliberations regarding the proposed national delimitation exercise, insisting that the eventual mapping must remain fair and equitable toward all states. Addressing the proposed expansion mechanisms, Badal declared that his party supports a uniform fifty percent increase in legislative seats across all states to maintain political balance.
