Chandigarh, June 20 — Two men involved in a violent snatching incident that left a woman injured were arrested on Thursday, four days after the crime took place in Sector 34.

The incident occurred on June 16 when Diksha Saini, a resident of Sector 46A, was walking home from her IELTS coaching institute. While speaking to her sister over the phone, two men on a black motorcycle approached her. The pillion rider struck her on the head and snatched her phone, causing her to fall to the ground.

Despite the sudden assault, Saini managed to note the last four digits of the motorcycle’s registration number and identified it as a Himachal Pradesh-registered vehicle. Her detailed account proved critical in tracking the suspects.

Police said the snatched phone, along with three other mobile phones suspected to be stolen, were recovered from the possession of the accused.

The duo were produced before a magistrate and have been remanded to judicial custody.

Authorities have commended Saini’s presence of mind, which they say played a key role in solving the case swiftly.
