Nuh, Jan 26: A 35-year-old woman is recovering in a hospital after she was repeatedly stabbed with a knife by her eldest son in the Pinangawa area of Nuh district. The incident occurred in a rented accommodation where the victim, identified as Waheedan, had been residing with her second husband for the last 12 days.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was triggered by the victim’s decision to leave her first husband and five children to remarry. The son, who is from the woman’s first marriage, fled the scene immediately after the assault. The victim sustained serious injuries to her hands and legs and was rushed to Mandi Khera hospital for medical intervention.
“We got to know that the woman was attacked by her elder son over some family disputes,” Deputy Superintendent of Police, Punhana, Jitendra Rana said. He noted that while the victim’s family is yet to lodge a formal complaint, the police are moving forward with the process to register an FIR and have launched a search to apprehend the accused.
Waheedan, originally a resident of Chhainsa village in Palwal district, had reportedly visited her current husband multiple times before their marriage two weeks ago. Local residents mentioned that her first husband only became aware of the situation after the wedding took place. The authorities are currently monitoring the woman’s condition as they continue their investigation into the violent encounter.
