Zirakpur, August 30: Police registered cases against four spa centres on Thursday night after a raid revealed alleged trafficking of women for immoral purposes. Officials said the centres were not only charging heavily but were also involved in activities beyond the licensed scope of spa operations.
According to police, the action followed specific inputs about women being exploited under the cover of spa businesses. Investigating officer Gurnam Singh said strict monitoring is underway to curb such practices. “We are closely monitoring these centres. Anyone found exploiting women or misusing the licence of spa centres will face strict legal action,” he noted.
During the raid, police took five women into custody, while several others reportedly fled before the teams arrived. The cases have been registered under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
Officials added that similar inspections will continue in Zirakpur and nearby areas to ensure that spa centres operate within the law.
