Mohali, April 5: A 17-year-old student, identified as Abhijit, died after jumping from the fourth floor of Bestech Square Mall in Mohali’s Phase-11 on Saturday morning.
According to Inspector Gagandeep Singh, Abhijit, a Class 12 student, had been suffering from depression for a long time. He reportedly took the extreme step around 11:30 am.
He was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Phase-6, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC and are speaking with the family to understand more about the circumstances leading to the incident.
