Amritsar, 10 February 2025: Punjab Police have dismantled a terror module with the arrest of three suspects accused of orchestrating an explosion near a closed police post at Fatehgarh Churian in Amritsar on February 3, officials said Monday.
The accused—Lovepreet Singh, Buta Singh, and Karandeep Singh, all residents of Amritsar rural—were allegedly connected to a Dubai-based handler who provided them with funds and weapons, police said.
An AK-47 rifle, two pistols, and cartridges were recovered from them.
Following their arrest, one of the suspects reportedly snatched a pistol from a police officer and fired, prompting retaliatory action.
“Two of the accused sustained bullet injuries and were admitted to a hospital,” police stated.
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed the arrests, adding that the module was operated by terrorist Happy Passia and others from abroad.
“Preliminary investigations indicate their involvement in the February 3 blast near the closed police post,” Bhullar said.
