Chandigarh, 11 October, 2024: A man arrested on October 5 in connection with a theft case escaped from police custody in Mataur’s Phase 7 on Tuesday, authorities said.
The suspect, identified as Rahul from Kajheri, Sector 36, Chandigarh, had been taken by police to Phase 7 to apprehend his accomplice, Narinder.
After Narinder was arrested, police were returning to the station when Rahul asked to relieve himself.
As he stepped out of the vehicle, he shoved ASI Jaspal Singh and fled. Rahul was rearrested on Wednesday and charged under Section 262 of the BNS for resisting or obstructing lawful apprehension, police said.
