Three Arrested After Karnal Shootout

Karnal, 09 November 2024: Three members of the Kaka Rana gang were arrested early Saturday following a shootout in Gharounda, Karnal. Two of the suspects were injured and have been hospitalized, police reported.

The arrested gangsters were identified as Sandeep, a resident of Hisar, Sandeep from Faridabad, and Ritik from Bhiwani. They were wanted in connection with three extortion and firing incidents in Karnal and Kurukshetra. According to Inspector Mohan Lal, head of the CIA-2 unit in Kurukshetra, the gang had demanded ₹1 crore each from three victims: an immigration center owner in Sector 10, Kurukshetra, a commission agent in Pipli, and a mobile store owner in Karnal. Afterward, shots were fired at the offices of all three individuals.

At around 3 a.m. on Saturday, police received a tip-off about the gang members’ location. As the CIA-2 unit closed in on the suspects, the trio, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on the police team. One bullet struck the windshield, and another hit the tire of the police vehicle. In response, the police returned fire, injuring two of the suspects.

The police recovered two pistols and a motorcycle from the suspects’ possession.
