Kangra, November 4, 2024—Three women were apprehended at the Kangra bus stand on Sunday evening, accused of attempting to snatch a chain from a passenger amidst a crowded scene.

The suspects were taken into custody by police following the alert actions of the victim, Neerja, and local bystanders.

According to police reports, Neerja, a resident of Dhagwad, was preparing to board a bus home when three women standing behind her attempted to grab her gold chain and flee. Neerja, along with others at the bus stand, managed to stop the suspects and immediately alerted the Kangra police. Officers arrived shortly after and took the three women into custody.

DSP Sharma confirmed the arrests, identifying the suspects as Seeto Rani (40) from Mansa, and Paramjit Kaur (55) and Shyam Kaur (48), both residents of Maler Kotla. The three women are scheduled to appear in court today.

Police suspect the trio may be part of a larger network, as several theft complaints had surfaced over the past four to five days.

Authorities plan to question the suspects about other possible incidents and any additional individuals involved in the group.
