Mohali, Sept 8 — Police in Sohana have arrested three women accused of snatching a gold chain from a passenger while she was boarding a bus at the Landran bus stop.
The accused were identified as Shinder Kaur alias Gurmeet Kaur, Kirandeep alias Chhanko, and Rani alias Shinder Kaur, all residents of Sohana.
According to the complaint filed by Manveer Kaur, 50, of Saidpur village, the incident took place on September 4 when she was boarding a bus to Ludhiana. She told police that as she approached the bus door, three to four women surrounded her. After she managed to take a seat, she realized that her two-tola gold chain had been stolen.
On raising an alarm, the suspects allegedly tried to flee. However, a crowd gathered outside the bus and managed to catch hold of them. Police were called to the spot and later recovered the stolen ornament from the accused.
A case has been registered under Sections 304 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials said further investigation is in progress.
