BALAGHAT, India, 19 February —Three women Naxalites were killed in an early morning encounter with police in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district, authorities said Wednesday.
The anti-Naxal Hawk Force and local police teams engaged the group in a forested area near the Chhattisgarh border, additional superintendent of police Vijay Dabar told PTI.
The encounter occurred near Ronda Forest Camp in Supkhar Forest Range, under Garhi Police Station, about 90 km from the district headquarters.
“Three hardcore Naxalites were neutralized in the operation,” a police statement said, adding that an INSAS rifle, a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), and a .303 rifle were recovered.
Some Naxalites sustained injuries but managed to escape, the statement noted.
“Twelve police teams are conducting a combing operation to track them down,” it added.
