FARIDKOT, June 14: The Faridkot police have registered a case against Avidfly Vacations Pvt Ltd, a Chandigarh-based travel company, and its top executives for allegedly duping a group of elderly residents out of ₹22.90 lakh under the pretense of organizing a luxury trip to Dubai.

According to the police, the company collected payments from the complainants—senior citizens from Faridkot—for a promised 7-night, 8-day luxury holiday in January 2025, which never materialized. The planned itinerary included high-end accommodations such as Atlantis, The Palm, but the tour was neither scheduled nor conducted.

“The company took our money with promises of a lavish experience, and then vanished when the departure date neared,” said one of the complainants, who provided documentary evidence including bank receipts, emails, and WhatsApp messages to support the claim.

An FIR has been filed under Sections 318(4), 339(3), 340(2), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, naming directors Harmanpreet Singh and Supinder Singh, along with CEO Mandeep Kaur.

Investigators say Harmanpreet Singh had initially acknowledged receiving the full amount and assured the Superintendent of Police (D), Faridkot, that a refund would be processed by April 20. That assurance, however, was never honoured.

The complainants told police that the firm repeatedly delayed the refund, offering excuses while failing to return what they described as “hard-earned savings.”

This is not the first allegation against Harmanpreet Singh. In April, the Chandigarh Police booked him in a separate case involving a ₹2.71 lakh fraud tied to a Singapore travel package. While a partial refund was issued, a cheque provided later reportedly bounced due to a signature mismatch.

Police are continuing their investigation, while victims hope for justice and the recovery of their money.
