Samrala, April 20: A 45-year-old tractor-trolley driver was beaten to death allegedly by a bus driver and conductor following a collision near Khattra village in Samrala, police said.
The victim, Manjit Singh of Harion village, was headed to Bamba when his vehicle collided with a private bus coming from the opposite direction.
Eyewitnesses and family members alleged that after the accident, Manjit was assaulted by the bus crew and later found dead at the scene under suspicious circumstances.
Sub-inspector Pavitar Singh, SHO Samrala, said, “Witnesses stated Manjit appeared unharmed after the crash but was later attacked. A case has been registered under Section 105 of the BNS and other provisions.”
The police have arrested the conductor, Roshan Lal, while the driver fled the scene and remains absconding. Manjit’s body has been sent for postmortem.
