Gorakhpur: Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath conducted the traditional Kanya Pujan on Monday during the Maha Navami of Sharadiya Navratri at the Gorakhnath Temple premises.
Adhering to long-standing monastic customs, the head of the order performed sacred rites honoring nine young girls symbolizing the forms of Goddess Durga.
The ceremonial proceedings included the ritual washing of feet, application of traditional tilak, offering of garlands, and recitation of Vedic hymns from the Shri Durga Saptashati within the temple’s Annakshetra facility.
Following the devotional rites, the Chief Minister personally served prepared prasad to the invited children and Batuk Bhairavs, ensuring hospitable care throughout the gathering.
Accompanied by senior monastic figures including chief priest Yogi Kamalnath and Mahant Ravindradas, the state leader distributed ceremonial offerings and tokens of respect to numerous young attendees present on the occasion. Prior to the assembly, special prayers were offered to Maa Siddhidatri at the temple’s main altar to conclude the seasonal festivities.
