Chandigarh, March 12 — Heavy traffic congestion gripped Mohali on Tuesday evening as road diversions and blockades were enforced for President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the Indian School of Business. In Chandigarh, similar restrictions caused widespread snarls ahead of her scheduled visit on Wednesday.
Mohali’s Balongi bypass and airport road saw the worst gridlocks, leaving commuters stranded. “This road is always busy, but today is worse. I’ve been stuck for over 15 minutes and still can’t cross,” said Tejasvi Khatri, an IT professional.
In Chandigarh, authorities issued an advisory detailing regulated routes, but many commuters found the information inadequate. “There were no clear signs about closures. Every route I took was blocked,” said Vishal Sharma, a resident caught in the chaos.
Traffic police were stationed at major intersections to manage the disruptions, urging residents to use alternate routes to avoid delays on March 12.
