Trump Appoints Indian Origin Entrepreneur As AI Policy Advisor

Washington DC, 23 December 2024: Indian-American entrepreneur and venture capitalist Sriram Krishnan as the Senior White House Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence (AI). Announcing the appointment on Sunday, Trump also named several other officials in key AI roles.

“Sriram Krishnan will serve as the Senior Policy Advisor for AI at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy,” Trump said, emphasizing Krishnan’s wealth of experience in tech and leadership.

With an extensive background at leading tech companies, including Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo, Facebook, and Snap, Krishnan will collaborate closely with David O. Sacks, appointed as the White House AI & Crypto Czar. Together, they will drive AI policy across the government and focus on maintaining America’s global leadership in AI.

“In working with David Sacks, I’m committed to ensuring the United States continues to lead the way in AI,” Krishnan said. “I’m honored to serve and help shape the future of this critical technology.”

Krishnan’s appointment has been widely praised, particularly within the Indian-American community. Sanjeev Joshipura, Executive Director of Indiaspora, expressed support for the appointment, stating, “We are thrilled that Sriram Krishnan has been chosen for this important role.
