Kapurthala, August 6: Two men lost their lives and a woman sustained severe injuries after an SUV crashed into roadside trees near Sawal village in Kapurthala district late Wednesday night.
Local police personnel reached the spot shortly after the incident occurred along the stretch connecting Sultanpur Lodhi to Talwandi Chaudhrian, initiating emergency medical transfers for the victims.
“The driver reportedly lost control before the vehicle struck a roadside tree and breached the boundary fence of a private school,” stated investigating officers, asserting that overspeeding remains a primary suspect behind the crash.
One occupant, Rahul Gill of Bidhipur village, died at the scene, while a teenager succumbed to injuries during treatment at the Civil Hospital. Medical staff referred the third occupant, Anjana Rani, to an advanced facility in critical condition as police proceed with further technical investigations.
