New Delhi, August 6: A two-week technical investigation by the Delhi Police Cyber Cell has uncovered an orchestrated digital operation involving nearly 480 Pakistan-based social media handles aimed at inciting unrest during recent demonstrations at Jantar Mantar.
Authorities have issued formal notices to major technology platforms, including Meta, Google, and X, requesting server logs, IP addresses, and account details to identify the operators behind automated bot networks used to artificially amplify inflammatory material.
“We have noticed attempts to spread misinformation on social media, with foreign handles exploiting the situation to circulate false information and incite tension,” stated police investigators, asserting that these networks previously attempted similar anti-India campaigns.
Forensic teams are currently analyzing communication channels, financial transactions, and the records of nearly 2,800 participants with prior criminal antecedents. Law enforcement agencies maintained that the violence, which resulted in stone-pelting across Janpath and Parliament Street, was the outcome of coordinated online mobilization rather than a spontaneous public reaction.
