Mohali, 1 February 2025: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested two drug smugglers in Mohali district on Friday, recovering 260 grams of heroin from their possession after a high-speed chase near Seneta village.

The accused, identified as Amritpal Singh, alias Guri, of Jodha in Ludhiana district, and Rohtash Singh Tasha of Jalaldiwal in Ludhiana district, were traveling in a Maruti Suzuki Swift when they attempted to evade a police checkpoint on the Landran-Chunni road.

Ram Darshan, in charge of the ANTF station, mentioned that his team had received a tip-off about a vehicle transporting heroin from Ludhiana to Zirakpur via Mohali for delivery to a regular buyer.

Acting on this information, the team set up a blockade in Landran, but the suspects sped through the checkpoint, prompting a chase. They were eventually intercepted near the railway overbridge in Seneta village.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered 260 grams of heroin. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had procured the heroin from Ludhiana and planned to sell it in Chandigarh and Zirakpur.

“They admitted to purchasing heroin at ₹1,400 per gram and selling it for ₹2,500 per gram,” Darshan stated.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against them.

They were presented before a Mohali court which remanded them to one-day police custody.

Further investigation is ongoing.
