Ayodhya, Dec 5: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the four-day Ramayana Mela at Ram Katha Park on the banks of the Saryu River today. Scheduled from December 5 to 8, the fair features song, music, and spiritual discourses celebrating Lord Ram’s legacy.

During his address, CM Yogi commented on atrocities against Hindus, comparing historical events to modern-day occurrences in Bangladesh and Sambhal. “What Babar did in Ayodhya 500 years ago is happening today,” he remarked, referencing violence against Hindus.

Accentuating Ayodhya’s global importance, he stated, “Lord Ram’s temple enthronement after 500 years was celebrated worldwide. Ayodhya offers solutions to global problems and stands free from anger and hatred.”

The Chief Minister also praised Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia’s philosophy, which inspired the establishment of the Ramayana Mela.

The event was first launched in Chitrakoot and later in Ayodhya during Congress rule, with the inaugural Mela held in 1982 under then-CM Shripati Mishra.

Since its inception, the Ramayana Mela has been managed by the Department of Culture, which organizes cultural programs and Ramlilas with the involvement of saints and spiritual leaders.
