Amritsar, 17 February 2025: A US military plane carrying 112 deportees landed at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport late Sunday night, but they were only moved out under heavy security nearly seven hours later.

Authorities escorted the deportees in buses through two separate airport gates around 4:30 a.m. on Monday.

“They were allowed to leave in small batches, and it took about 30 minutes to clear the airport,” an official said.

Neither the deportees’ families nor the media were permitted to meet them, officials mentioned.

Of those deported, 44 were from Haryana, 31 from Punjab, and one from Himachal Pradesh. State authorities arranged transportation to their respective destinations.
