Jaipur, April 22— US Vice-President J D Vance visited Jaipur’s Amber Fort on Tuesday morning along with his wife Usha Vance and their three children, receiving a red-carpet welcome amid heightened security arrangements.

The family arrived at the UNESCO World Heritage Site around 9:30 am, departing from the Rambagh Palace Hotel in a high-security convoy.

As they entered the Jaleb Chowk courtyard, they were greeted by two decorated elephants, Chanda and Mala, who raised their trunks in traditional Rajasthani fashion, officials said.

Vance, walking hand-in-hand with sons Ewan and Vivek, while his wife carried their daughter Mirabel, appeared visibly moved by the architecture and ambiance.

“The family seemed truly captivated by the fort’s beauty and the cultural showcase,” an official present during the visit told reporters.

The cultural performance included Rajasthan’s celebrated folk dances—Kacchi Ghodi, Ghoomar, and Kalbeliya—offering the family a glimpse into the region’s rich traditions.

The Amber Fort Palace was closed to visitors from 12 pm on Monday to allow for preparations, while traffic was diverted to clear the route between Rambagh Palace and the fort for the visiting dignitaries.
