Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department generated approximately ₹24,795.52 crore in revenue between April and August for the 2026-27 financial year, marking a steady increase from the ₹22,337.62 crore collected during the corresponding period last year. The performance represents a growth of nearly 11 percent, securing roughly 34.8 percent of the state’s annual target of ₹71,278 crore within five months. Monthly figures indicate collection reached ₹3,933.10 crore in August, an increase of ₹178.67 crore compared to August of the prior year.
Alongside collection efforts, regulatory authorities sustained targeted enforcement operations against the illegal manufacture, sale, and transport of spurious liquor. Official records show that enforcement teams registered over 39,000 cases between April and July, leading to multiple arrests and the seizure of illegal inventory across various districts. Excise and Prohibition Minister Nitin Agarwal affirmed that transparent administrative systems and tech-driven monitoring continue to support revenue stability while curbing illicit trade. Excise Commissioner Dr. Adarsh Singh noted that departmental field checks and surveillance in sensitive sectors will persist throughout the upcoming months.
