Chandigarh, February 1: Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and AAP leader Manish Sisodia joined educators in Ludhiana on Saturday to advocate for a curriculum that blends scientific learning with Vedic values. Speaking at an award ceremony hosted by the Sanatan Seva Samiti and Ved Prachar Mandal at BCM School, the leaders noted that connecting students with their heritage is vital for character building and social progress.

Minister Bains mentioned that quality education remains the primary tool for shaping society, comparing the guidance of young students to the nurturing of a growing plant. He noted that the efforts of teachers in linking children to ethical principles are foundational to developing responsible citizens. “If we wish to transform society, the only solution is to instill the very principles and values in the children through education,” Bains directly said during the event.

Manish Sisodia, who previously oversaw Delhi’s education department, described the Vedic speech competition as a rare initiative that brings the insights of the Upanishads and the Gita to the forefront of student life. He noted that ancient scholars understood many scientific concepts thousands of years before they were validated in modern laboratories. Sisodia mentioned that if children study traditional literature alongside their scientific pursuits, they have the potential to become world-class scientists.
The event, which honored nearly 300 participants from 25 different schools, concluded with a call for broader economic support for the sector. Following the ceremony, Minister Bains addressed the upcoming Union Budget, noting the need for a special relief package for Punjab following recent floods. He mentioned that to establish India as a global leader, the central government should increase education funding to at least 10 percent of the total budget.
