Chandigarh, Aug 11: Chandigarh police are investigating a burglary at a Verka booth in Sector 28C, where thieves made off with cash, dairy products, and chocolates valued at several thousand rupees.
The incident came to light early Saturday morning when the booth owner, Khem Raj, 53, discovered the damage after returning to his shop. “I had closed the shop around 8:30 pm on Friday. When I came back at 5:15 am the next day, I saw three chairs that were inside lying outside, and the lock was broken,” Khem Raj told police.
Among the stolen items, Khem Raj reported eight 1kg packets of Verka desi ghee, three boxes of Pio milk, one box of sweet lassi, chocolates worth approximately ₹15,000, and ₹3,500 in cash had been taken.
A formal complaint has been registered against unknown individuals. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and track down the suspects involved in the theft.
