AMRITSAR, July 15 — Teams from the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday carried out fresh raids at the office and residence of senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, as part of an ongoing investigation into a disproportionate assets case, officials confirmed.

The raids took place at Majithia’s office in Majitha town and at his residence in Amritsar’s upscale Green Avenue locality. During the operation, vigilance teams conducted detailed measurements of the office premises and inspected each section thoroughly. Documents stored at the site were reviewed with the help of local administrative staff and office employees present at the time.

While the Vigilance Bureau has yet to release an official statement outlining the exact purpose of Tuesday’s searches or specifying the nature of the documents taken, sources said the raids are linked to the bureau’s broader investigation into alleged assets amassed beyond known sources of income.

In response to the operation, Punjab Police increased security around the search locations. A heavy police presence was observed outside Majithia’s residence, with barricades placed several metres away to restrict public access and ensure the smooth conduct of the search.

Majithia, a prominent figure in the SAD, has been under the scanner in similar cases in the past. His properties have faced raids before in connection with allegations of financial irregularities.

As of Tuesday evening, there was no public comment from Majithia or his party regarding the latest round of searches.
