Dalewala, December 10, 2024: Villagers of Dalewala initiated a one-day hunger strike today in solidarity with farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dalewala, who has been on a fast unto death for nearly 15 days over farmers’ demands. The protest also saw slogans raised against the Central and Haryana governments.

Addressing the gathering, villagers described Dalewala as a global voice for farmers, underscoring their unwavering support for his cause. They stated that while today’s hunger strike is symbolic, they are prepared to extend it if directed by the protest leadership.

Dalewala’s daughter-in-law accentuated his role as a symbol of resilience, stating, “Dalewala is not a person but a thought, and thought cannot be suppressed.”

His grandson, Jigarjot Singh, also participated in the hunger strike, expressing readiness to join the main protest and support his grandfather if needed. The symbolic strike reflects the growing support for Dalewala’s movement among local communities.
