Chandigarh, March 9 — A woman from Ludhiana has accused Rajdeep, owner of Angad Info Overseas Consultancy Pvt Ltd, and his associate, Shally Sharma, of cheating her out of ₹6.81 lakh under the pretense of securing an Australian visa, according to a complaint filed with the Chandigarh SSP.
The complainant, Amandeep Kaur, a nurse, said she was assured by the accused that she would be sent to Australia within six months for ₹16 lakh. In July 2023, an acquaintance recommended the Sector 35-C-based consultancy, and she approached the firm.
During a meeting at the office, Rajdeep and Shally allegedly explained the visa process and payment requirements. Trusting their claims, Amandeep and her husband made multiple payments between July 2023 and March 2024. However, despite repeated transactions, the agency failed to process her visa and kept delaying it with false assurances. She stated that her visits and calls went unanswered.
When she confronted them in person, Shally allegedly threatened her, saying, “Rajdeep sir has high connections, do whatever you want.”
Amandeep also mentioned that an FIR was previously registered against the accused at the Sector 35 police station on September 2, 2024, for a similar fraud. Rajdeep was arrested but later released on bail.
A case under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 467, 468, 471 (forgery), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, and Section 24 of the Immigration Act has been registered. The investigation is ongoing.
