Work With Integrity, Mann Tells Punjab Police

Patiala, October 29: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday urged Punjab Police personnel to uphold honesty and dedication in service, saying that “bags full of cash can never satisfy a greedy person’s hunger.”

Speaking at the inauguration of a six-day investigator course at the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Mann cautioned officers against corruption, asserting that those indulging in it would eventually “pay for their deeds.”

“Those busy minting money forget that they have to surely pay for their deeds as corruption is unacceptable,” the Chief Minister said, adding that public trust in law enforcement was built only through integrity and accountability.

Without naming him, Mann made a veiled reference to suspended Ropar Range DIG H.S. Bhullar, who was arrested recently by the CBI on graft charges. “One or two black sheep bring disrepute to the entire force,” he remarked, calling the incident a reminder that “no one is above the law.”

His remarks came days after Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria described Bhullar’s arrest and the recovery of cash and valuables from his residence as “unfortunate,” questioning how such corruption went undetected despite the state’s administrative machinery. The Governor had noted that the episode “calls for introspection.”

The event was attended by Health Minister Balbir Singh and Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Vice-Chancellor Jai Shankar Singh.
