Phagwara, 17 October, 2024: A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night when a young boy was killed on the spot after being struck by a speeding truck on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road, close to village Khatti.
Officials have identified the victim as Gurdip Singh, a resident of Mukerian.
According to reports, Gurdip was crossing the road after enjoying dinner at a nearby roadside dhabha when the truck collided with him.
Witnesses stated that the truck was traveling at high speed, and the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
In response to the incident, local police have registered a case under Section 279 (rash driving) and Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police have sent Gurdip’s body to the local civil hospital for a post-mortem examination, as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic death.
