New Delhi, July 30: Police authorities have launched multi-location raids across the national capital region to apprehend a caretaker accused of shooting a 20-year-old gym employee in northwest Delhi’s Keshav Puram area.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Saurabh, absconded immediately after the Wednesday night incident, which took place on the third floor of the commercial building where both individuals were employed.
Northwest Delhi DCP Akanksha Yadav affirmed that a formal case has been registered under relevant legal provisions, noting that official teams are actively investigating all potential angles to establish the underlying motive.
Preliminary findings indicate the victim had been working at the gym facility for nearly three years, whereas Saurabh had served as the premises caretaker for the past three months. Investigators believe the suspect brought the victim to a third-floor room under some pretext before a dispute erupted, leading to the gunfire.
Bystanders alerted by the sound of a gun blast discovered the victim severe injured, while the suspect had already fled the building.
Expressing deep anguish over the loss, the victim’s father maintained that his daughter regularly communicated with family members each evening but remained unreachable on Wednesday, adding:
“Later, we were informed that someone had shot her.”
Forensic specialists and crime branch personnel evaluated the scene to secure evidence before transferring the body for post-mortem evaluation.
