YouTuber Attack Suspect Shot During Weapon Recovery

Jalandhar, March 18 — A 21-year-old man allegedly involved in hurling a “grenade-like object” at the house of Jalandhar-based YouTuber Rozer Sandhu was arrested from Haryana’s Yamunanagar district, police said on Tuesday.

The accused, Hardik Kamboj, a resident of Shadipur village in Yamunanagar, was caught in Bihta village, Bilaspur, on Monday evening, Senior Superintendent of Police (Jalandhar Rural) Gurmeet Singh said. During questioning, Kamboj confessed to throwing the device at Sandhu’s residence on Sunday. However, the object failed to explode.

On Tuesday morning, police brought Kamboj to Rasulpur village on Pathankot road in Jalandhar for weapon recovery. During the operation, he allegedly grabbed a firearm and opened fire at the police team. Officers retaliated, shooting him in the leg, Singh said. He was rushed to a hospital.

A .32 bore pistol was recovered from the scene. Singh said police are probing the possible involvement of another person in the attack.

According to investigators, Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti claimed responsibility for the incident, accusing Sandhu of insulting Islam. Police said Kamboj was paid ₹25,000 to carry out the attack.
