Chandigarh, 17 December 2024: Ten employees, assigned as polling staff during the Panchayat elections in Gidderbaha on Sunday, have been suspended for negligence. The elections were held across 14 villages and the entire Panchayat of Daula.
The action, initiated by Sub Divisional Magistrate-cum-Returning Officer Jaspal Singh, came following orders from Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Rajesh Tripathi. According to Jaspal Singh, the staff repeatedly ignored calls to report for duty, significantly disrupting the voting process.
The suspended employees include HT Sagar Gaba, Junior Assistant Gamdur Singh, ETTs Joginder Pal Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Avtar Singh, Vikram Singh, Librarian Gurjinder Singh, Science Master Manjit Singh, Rupinder Singh, and Sushil Kumar. Despite multiple opportunities to join duty, they failed to comply, leading to immediate suspension.
