Chandigarh, 11 November 2024: The “Naviyaan Kalman, Naveen Udaan” International Children Writers Conference is set to take place on November 16-17 in Sangrur, as announced in Chandigarh Press Club on Monday.
Organized by Sukhi Bath, founder of Punjab Bhawan Canada, the event expects participation from nearly 800 budding authors, accompanied by 700 guiding teachers and parents from Punjab, Rajasthan, Pakistan, and Canada.
Prominent Pakistani Punjabi poet Baba Nazmi will be the special guest, providing guidance and inspiration to the aspiring young writers.
The event will feature a variety of cultural activities, including poetry, storytelling, and song competitions, highlighting the creative talents of the participants.
The project, launched in September 2023, has since conducted workshops across Punjab’s 23 districts and beyond, publishing 39 books with contributions from over 3,280 students.
A key highlight will be the presentation of the Shiromani Bal Lekhak Puraskar, a cash prize of INR 7 lakh, honoring exceptional child writers in memory of Sukhi Bath’s late father, Sardar Arjan Singh Bath.
Arrangements for accommodation, food, and security have been made for participants, with a mission to publish 100 titles and distribute 50,000 copies globally.
Supported by an enthusiastic team, including project in-charge Omkar Singh Teji and media in-charge Gurvinder Singh Kangar, the initiative aims to bridge borders and inspire the next generation of writers.
