Mohali, April 1— A court in Punjab’s Mohali on Tuesday sentenced self-styled pastor Bajinder Singh to life imprisonment in a 2018 rape case. The verdict was delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Vikrant Kumar.

Singh was found guilty on March 28 under IPC sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation). Five co-accused were acquitted.

The case was registered in 2018 at Zirakpur police station after a woman accused Singh of raping her under the pretext of sending her abroad.

Security was tightened at the court complex ahead of the sentencing. Meanwhile, a separate case of sexual harassment involving a Kapurthala-based follower is yet to be presented in court.

Bajinder Singh, popularly known as the ‘Yeshu Yeshu’ pastor, gained widespread attention through viral videos of his sermons, often featuring the chant ‘Mera Yeshu Yeshu.’
