PHAGWARA, Apr 19 — A couple and their toddler son were killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving an e-rickshaw, a car, and a tractor-trolley near Romi Dhaba on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road shortly after midnight, police said on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Pappu Yadav, 45, his wife Sunita Yadav, 43, and their one-and-a-half-year-old son. They were residents of Gol Market, Model Town in Jalandhar.
According to Rawalpindi Station House Officer Major Singh, the victims were travelling in an e-rickshaw at the time of the crash. A relative, also seated in the vehicle, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jalandhar.
“The exact cause of the pile-up is still under investigation,” SHO Singh mentioned. “We are examining the sequence of events and vehicles involved.”
The e-rickshaw was reportedly caught between a tractor-trolley and a car, leading to fatal damage. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether speed, visibility, or road conditions contributed to the collision.
Police said further inquiries are underway and statements from eyewitnesses and the injured survivor will aid the investigation.
