SAS Nagar, May 11:The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has sanctioned Rs 3.77 crore for the upgradation of the Chapparchiri Khurd to Chapparchiri Kalan road, a key route providing access to the historic Chapparchiri site.

The administrative approval was welcomed by MLA SAS Nagar Kulwant Singh, who described the move as a major step toward resolving a long-standing local demand. “This road acts as a vital alternative to the congested Kharar-Landra corridor. Its upgradation will provide much-needed relief to commuters,” Singh said.

The project covers a 2.05 km stretch of 18-feet-wide road and includes the installation of 80 mm interlocking pavers. A maintenance provision of Rs 8.52 lakh over five years has also been included in the sanctioned budget.

MLA Kulwant Singh noted that the road has required repairs since 2018 and remains a crucial connector from Mohali to the Kharar-Landra road.

“The condition of the road has long impacted local traffic, and I thank the Chief Minister for taking swift action,” he added.

In view of the Fateh March scheduled for tomorrow, the Public Works Department has begun immediate non-bituminous patchwork to ensure smooth travel.

“PWD has been directed to complete the temporary patchwork by this evening,” Singh confirmed.

He further stated that additional link roads in the area are also slated for repair and renovation in the near future. “The Mann Government remains committed to improving rural infrastructure and easing mobility for residents,” the MLA said.
