May 24, IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered another setback after losing against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Team captain Rajat Patidar has been fined Rs 24 lakh for slow over speed. Apart from this, Sunrisers captain Pat Cummins has also been fined for slow over rate. Cummins was fined Rs 12 lakh as it was his team’s first offense under the IPL code of conduct this season, while Patidar was fined Rs 24 lakh for being a member of RCB’s playing XI for the second offence.

The second crime of RCB team

The IPL said in a statement, ‘As this was RCB’s second offense of the season under the minimum over-rate offenses under the IPL Code of Conduct, Patidar was fined Rs 24 lakh. The rest of the members of the playing eleven, including the impact player, were individually fined either Rs six lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is less.’ The shocking thing is that the RCB team came out to bowl first and not Rajat but Jitesh Sharma was captaining the team. Rajat came on the field to bat as an impact player, but he was fined 24 lakh rupees. This happened because of being a regular captain.

Cummins fined 12 lakh rupees

The IPL statement also said, ‘Since this was his team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences, Cummins was fined Rs 12 lakh.’ RCB, who secured a place in the playoffs, had to face defeat by 42 runs against SRH. Now the last match of this team is against Lucknow Super Giants on 27th May.

What happened in the match?

After scoring 231 runs for six wickets, SRH reduced RCB’s innings to 189 runs in 19.5 overs. This defeat has made it difficult for RCB to make it to the top two in the table. Ishan Kishan hit seven fours and five sixes in his unbeaten innings of 94 runs off 48 balls. He was awarded Player of the Match.
