AMRITSAR, May 25 — In a coordinated action, the Amritsar Municipal Corporation and Commissionerate Police on Saturday razed the illegal residence of notorious drug trafficker Sunny Gulla in the Mohkampura area.
The house, located at Tung Pai on Batala Road under Mohkampura police station limits, was declared an unauthorized construction by civic authorities. The demolition marks a strong signal from the administration amid its intensified campaign against the drug network operating in Punjab.
“Sunny Gulla has a long and dangerous criminal record,” Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar told reporters at the site. “He is currently booked in eight cases—four under the NDPS Act, two for attempted murder, one under the Prisons Act, and another for public violence.”
Labeling Gulla as a repeat offender deeply entrenched in drug trafficking, Bhullar warned of strict consequences for others in the trade. “Anyone destroying families and ruining lives through drugs does not deserve to live peacefully,” he said. “The time for warnings is over. Either give up the drug business or face strict action.”
He also urged individuals involved in drug peddling to voluntarily abandon the trade or leave the state altogether, offering them an opportunity to reform before facing the full force of the law.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Alam Vijay Singh, ACP East Dr. Sheetal Singh, and several senior officials were present during the demolition operation.
The action is part of the Punjab Police’s larger effort to dismantle the drug ecosystem and hold habitual offenders accountable through visible and legal deterrents.
