JALANDHAR, May 27 — Parminder Singh Dhingra, a prominent lawyer and president of the All India Sikh Students Federation, was shot dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Grover Colony on Monday night, police said.
The body of Dhingra was discovered inside his house following what authorities suspect was a fatal altercation. “Preliminary information suggests a dispute preceded the shooting,” a police official said, adding that neighbours are under suspicion in connection with the alleged murder.
As news of the incident spread, police teams rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. A forensic team later arrived to examine the crime site and sealed the house for investigation.
“We have initiated a full investigation into the incident. The body has been sent for postmortem, and we are questioning individuals in the vicinity,” said an officer from the Jalandhar Police.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact motive or recovered the weapon used. The case remains under active investigation, with officials stating that no arrests have been made so far.
Dhingra was a known figure in Sikh student politics and legal circles, and his death has sent shockwaves across the community.
