Chandigarh, October 27: The Punjab Vidhan Sabha adopted a resolution demanding the immediate reopening of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, calling upon the Central Government to engage with Pakistan authorities to resume smooth, safe, and uninterrupted transit for pilgrims.

Moving the resolution on the concluding sitting of the assembly session, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains asserted that the passage represents far more than a physical route, standing as a vital symbol of religious freedom, human kinship, and shared cultural heritage. Cabinet members urged central authorities to simplify clearance procedures, emphasizing the need to assist elderly and infirm devotees seeking to visit the historic shrine.

Speaking on the floor of the House, Minister Bains affirmed that the corridor connects deeply with the emotions of millions of devotees worldwide while reflecting the historical pain of families separated during the 1947 Partition. He maintained that the spiritual teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji transcend geographic borders, showing humanity the path of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
