In response, Punjab chased down the target, scoring 207 runs for five wickets in 19 overs with the help of Shreyas’s strong half-century innings.

Rain interrupted the match, causing a delay of two hours and 15 minutes before play commenced. Although the toss was completed, the downpour right before the start forced a late beginning. Fortunately, despite the delay, no overs were reduced.

Punjab Kings have reached the final for the first time since 2014. They will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB qualified for the final after defeating Punjab in Qualifier-1. The journey of five-time champion Mumbai ended in Qualifier-2. They managed to defeat Gujarat in the eliminator but failed to overcome Punjab in this crucial match. Since neither Punjab nor RCB have won the IPL trophy before, this season will crown a new champion.
PBKS vs MI: Punjab Kings’ Run Chase and Shreyas Iyer’s Heroics
Punjab Kings faced early trouble, losing three wickets for just 72 runs. However, Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera formed a crucial partnership, adding 84 runs for the fourth wicket. Shreyas reached his half-century in just 27 balls. The partnership ended when Ashwini Kumar dismissed Wadhera, who scored 48 runs. However, Shreyas stayed firm at the crease, sealing the victory by hitting a six on the last ball of the 19th over. He remained unbeaten on 87 runs off 41 balls, smashing five fours and eight sixes.
Punjab Kings’ Key Contributions
For Punjab Kings, Priyansh Arya scored 20 runs, Josh Inglis contributed 38, and Prabhsimran Singh managed six runs. Shashank Singh was dismissed after scoring two runs, while Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten with two runs.
Mumbai Indians’ Bowling Performance
For Mumbai Indians, Ashwini Kumar took two wickets, while Trent Boult and Hardik Pandya claimed one wicket each.
